Non-native Italian speaking students who do not reach at least level A1 of Italian language proficiency must include activities aimed at achieving this level in their educational programs.
The Department of Information Engineering and Mathematics offers its international students an Italian language course organized in 40-hour modules, which are repeated every semester.
The initiative aims to provide international students with the necessary knowledge to achieve a language proficiency level of at least A1 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), while recognizing more advanced students at level A2.
At the end of each module, there is an assessment that includes a written test and, for those who pass, an oral interview. Students who pass the assessment will be awarded an Open Badge issued by the University of Siena (at A1 or A2 level).
